2. Enable push notifications Once you're registered as a user you need to allow your Auckland Civil Defence iPhone app to receive push notifications to receive FREE alerts about emergencies.
To check that your push notifications are enabled: • Go to settings on your device and select "Notifications".
• Check to see if "Civil Defence" is listed under the heading "In Notifications Centre". If so, push notifications are already enabled.
• If you don't see "Civil Defence" listed under the heading "In Notifications Centre" you will find it under "Not in Notification Centre". Click on "Civil Defence" then turn on "Notification Centre". You will now receive alerts in the following ways:
High severity alerts: you'll receive a push notification that combines a message with a siren-like sound.
Medium severity alerts: you'll receive the standard push notification that combines a message with the default sound from your phone settings.
Low severity alerts : the badge on the Civil Defence app icon will be updated.
PLEASE NOTE: There is no charge to receive push notifications, but they do use a tiny amount of Internet data. |
