The main focus of the Group Emergency Operation Centre (GEOC) during an emergency is the coordination and support for councils within the Auckland region.
The GEOC is a facility in which the overall response to an event can be managed and supported.

  • Provide resources and facilities
  • Provide a means to coordinate regional response activities and prioritise the allocation of resources
  • Provide a control base for national resources assigned to the Auckland region
  • Recovery preparation and implementation

  • Staffed by specialists and volunteer staff organised using Coordinated Incident Management System (CIMS) for 24hr operation and 90 minute activation
  • Robust and varied communications methods and redundancies
  • On-call duty officer system with back-up
