Civil Defence Emergency Management Group
What is the Civil Defence Emergency Management Group (CDEMG)?
All of the eight councils in the Auckland region have united to form the Auckland Region Civil Defence Emergency Management Group.
The aim of the Auckland CDEMG is to:
- Co-ordinate all planning activities related to hazard and emergency management,
- Encourage co-operation and joint action within the region,
- Determine the aspirations of our community,
- Examine the risks that hazards may pose to the goals, and prioritise each hazard.
Role:
- To provide a co-ordinated and integrated approach to the way significant risks and hazards are managed in the Auckland region across the 4 R’s:
- Reduction
- Readiness
- Response
- Recovery
The governance of the Group is provided by a joint committee of elected representatives from the Auckland Regional Council, all city and district councils in the Auckland region, representatives of emergency services and district health boards.
